I'm currently doing the online therapy (session 4) and it's mentioned that we should do one step at a time and don't flood ourselves with situations that provoke too much anxiety. I have to attend meetings and social events very often due to my job and I sometimes feel overwhelmed because I can't control my feelings and reactions (especially when I have to speak and be the centre of attention). I have to stay in these situations and can't avoid them because they are part of my role which means that I can't take one step at a time and I often find my self in anxiety provoking situations which I'm not ready to face just yet. I have lots of set backs because of that and I'm thinking whether the therapy will be useful without being able to do one step at a time because when I try to work on new thought and catching ANTS than everything goes back to anxiety when in these situation which makes me go back to believe in my own thoughts and feel depressed and hopeless. Any suggestions on how to approach this?
