Hello all, I'm new to treatment. I am 26 years old, and have had worsening agoraphobia and social anxiety since leaving high school.
For the most part, it has kept me home bound. I've never even learned to drive, due to my overwhelming anxiety response.
The times I have gone out, I was very medicated on Xanax. The dependent nature of this drug eventually lead to me stopping it after 8 years (I've been completely off now for 6 months to clarify). This has lead to my anxiety getting even stronger, as I realized I'd lost my way of coping.
Recently I discovered this place and have religiously been following the audio series every week, starting lesson 10 tomorrow.
So far so good, I do seem to cope slightly better. I try to practice slow talk when I feel uptight in conversation. I also actively make attempts now to catch negative thinking and neutralize it.
Although I'm going to stick with this program as long as I can, do any of you have further treatment ideas in mind that I could participate in? At times I feel my phobias go beyond the strength of simply being ants talk.
