I like to play this MMORPG, it's called Eden Eternal. There's an ingame chat function. I'm always too afraid to ever talk or communicate, or ask questions on it. (That's one reason why I always play the game completely by myself, never grouping with anyone really, aside from maybe joining a group and never speaking to anyone.)
Yesterday, I was playing this game. From what I've discovered, people think it's fun to quote some of their favorite movies or shows or whatever. there were a few people quoting something I later discovered was something called "Hollywood Undead". (I've never heard of this before, keep in mind.) One of the lines mentioned something about alcohol/self harm, and naturally, I became worried. I had an inkling it was not real, but I pushed that thought to the side, because self harm/alcoholism is serious, and I thought maybe I'd be able to sum up the courage to actually speak my mind. I immediately responded with "are you okay or are you just writing poetry?" (The last part out of caution.) Here's how the next fifteen seconds went.
Person1: (can't remember words exactly here, sorry!) [quote which concerned me is supposed to go here, but it's gone]
Me: Are you okay or are you just writing poetry?
Person3: You seriously haven't heard of Hollywood Undead?
Person4: Who hasn't heard of it?
Person2: [quotes my ingame name]
Person??(forgot the number): lolololololol
You might have noticed I took some creative liberties with the last person. Interestingly, I can't remember any negative messages or words to me. Most times, I tend to look at the glass half-empty when I'm anxious. But this time, it was different! I actually saw the humor in it. Instead of thinking, "They think you're stupid" I thought, "I actually talked! I even made a mistake! Look how human I am!" It was a bit awkward, so afterwards I did switch to another ingame area to clear the chat log so I wouldn't have to see it. Ah well, I've made progress. (Now I need to conquer writing in public! Wish me luck!)
